Privacy policy
Last updated 30 September 2026
The short version
- We collect what’s needed to run a shared family planner: your account details and the plans your family adds.
- Your family’s plans are visible to your family only. We don’t sell your information.
- We look at overall usage (such as how many families are active), never what’s in your plans. We don’t show ads from other companies or send promotional emails.
- A few trusted services help run Kinly Staging (hosting, weather, maps, email, cookie-free web analytics). What each kind receives is explained below.
- You can delete your account at any time from Settings.
Who we are
Kinly Staging is run by Action Media Group (ABN 49 463 811 721), P.O. Box 94, Frankston VIC 3199, Australia. In this policy, “we” and “us” means Action Media Group. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
What we collect
When you create an account
- Your name and email address, used to sign you in and to show who added what.
- Your password, which is never stored as you typed it. We keep only a salted, one-way scrambled version (a hash), so nobody, including us, can read it.
What your family adds
- Calendar events, reminders, alarms, birthdays, meals, recipes and recipe photos, chores and stars, lists, contacts and notes.
- Family profiles: names, colours, icons and birthdays. Children don’t need an account; a parent or carer can add them as a profile.
Because Kinly Staging is shared, what you add is visible to the other people in your family. The exceptions are events and reminders you mark as “Just me” or “Some people”, which only those people can see. Private items never appear on the shared family board.
Things you choose to turn on
- Location sharing (Map). It’s off until you switch it on, and it only updates while Kinly Staging is open on your device. We keep only your latest position, which your family can see. Turning it off removes it.
- Notifications. If you allow them, your browser gives us a notification address for that device. Deleting the device or your account removes it.
- Phone calendar sync creates an app password for your phone’s calendar and a private calendar-feed link. Anyone with that link can read the calendar, so keep it to yourself. You can make a new link in Settings at any time, which stops the old one working.
- Feedback you send includes the screen you were on and your device type, so we can find the problem.
Collected automatically
- Device details (for example “iPhone” or “MacBook”), a name for the device, and when it was last used, so you can manage which screens ring alarms.
- Your IP address, briefly, to stop abuse such as repeated sign-in attempts. Our hosting provider also keeps short-lived technical logs.
- Approximate location of your internet connection (city level) when a family is first created, only to guess where to show the weather for. You can change or turn off the weather location at any time.
We use one cookie, which keeps you signed in. Our web analytics doesn’t use cookies. Kinly Staging also saves a copy of your family’s plans on your device so it works offline. In the demo, your changes are stored only on your device and never sent to us.
How we use it
- To run Kinly Staging: syncing your family’s plans, ringing alarms and sending reminders.
- To keep it secure and prevent misuse.
- To answer feedback and support requests and improve Kinly Staging.
- To email you about your account (confirming your email address, resetting your password) and important changes to the service.
- To understand how Kinly Staging is used (analytics), such as which features are popular and where people get stuck.
We don’t sell or rent personal information. We only look at a family’s data when it’s needed to fix a problem you’ve reported, keep the service secure, or when the law requires it.
Usage information
To know whether and how Kinly Staging is used, we look at overall numbers from our own records, such as how many families and accounts are active. Our servers also keep short-lived technical logs of requests (which part of Kinly Staging was used, device type and approximate location), which help us fix problems.
This never includes the content of your family’s plans, such as event names, notes, lists, recipes, contacts, photos or locations shared on the map. We look at it in combined form, not to watch what any one family does.
We also use a privacy-focused web analytics service on our website and app. It counts page visits and shows us things like which pages are popular, which sites people came from, their country, and their type of device and browser. It doesn’t use cookies, doesn’t follow you across other websites, and doesn’t build a profile of you.
Advertising
We don’t show ads from other companies, and we don’t share your information with advertisers.
We don’t send promotional emails. The only emails we send are about your account, such as confirming your email address or resetting your password.
Services that help run Kinly Staging
Like most apps, Kinly Staging relies on a small number of specialist providers. We don’t name them here, but this is what each kind does and what it receives:
| Kind of service | What it’s for | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Cloud hosting | Running Kinly Staging, storing your family’s data, and security | All app data, stored and processed on the provider’s network under our control |
| AI processing | Reading pasted text for events, and importing recipes from links and photos | Only the text, link or photos you send it. It runs within our hosting provider, and your content isn’t sent to outside AI companies. |
| Weather | Forecasts and place search | The coordinates of your weather location (a suburb or town, never your exact address) or the place name you search for, with no names or accounts attached |
| Maps | Map images and map software on the Map page | Your device loads these directly, so the map provider sees your IP address but not who you are or your family’s locations |
| Notification services | Delivering notifications, run by your phone’s or browser’s maker | The notification, sent encrypted so only your device can read it |
| Web analytics | Counting page visits so we know how the website and app are used | The page address, the site you came from, and your browser, device type and approximate country. No cookies, and never the content of your family’s plans |
| Email delivery | Sending account emails, such as confirming your address or resetting your password | Your email address, your first name and the email itself |
| Recipe websites | Importing a recipe from a link | A request for the page you gave us, made from our servers rather than your device |
If you’d like to know more about a particular provider, contact us.
Where it’s stored
Kinly Staging runs on a global cloud network, so your information may be stored or processed outside Australia, including in the United States and Europe. We choose providers that protect information to a standard comparable to the Australian Privacy Principles.
How we protect it
- All connections are encrypted (HTTPS).
- Passwords are stored only as salted hashes.
- Each family’s data is kept separate, and only members of that family can see it.
- Sign-in attempts are rate-limited, and sessions expire after 90 days.
No system is perfectly secure. If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we’ll tell you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, as the law requires.
How long we keep it
- Your family’s plans are kept while your family uses Kinly Staging. Anyone can delete what they added, and family admins can remove other items.
- Deleting your account (Settings → Delete my account) removes your login, sessions, devices, notification addresses, app passwords, calendar feed, personal settings and shared location. Your name is removed from any feedback you sent. Your family profile, and the things you added to the family’s plans, stay with your family, because they’re part of a shared calendar. Ask a family admin to remove them, or contact us.
- To delete a whole family and everything in it, email support@kinlyhub.app from the email address on an admin account and we’ll do it.
- Password-reset links last 24 hours and invite links 30 days.
Your choices and rights
You can see and change most of your information in Kinly Staging at any time. You can also ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. We’ll respond within 30 days.
If you have a complaint about how we’ve handled your information, contact us first. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Children
Kinly Staging is designed to be set up by parents and carers. Children can appear as profiles without an account. If a child has their own login, a parent or carer should create or approve it. If you believe a child has given us information without a parent’s knowledge, contact us and we’ll remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we make important changes, we’ll let you know in Kinly Staging before they take effect. The date at the top shows when this policy was last updated.
